It’s not that I’m such a serious drinker. The truth is that I actually don’t drink that much. Despite this fact, I must admit that I really do want a small flask of my very own.

Ever had white sangria? YUM! Light, fruity and delicious. And easy to make. Especially with this terrific recipe that was recently featured on The View.
Summer White Sangria
From Drinks with David Tutera
1 bottle dry white wine
Juice of 1 lemon, 1 orange and 1 lime juice
2 star fruits – sliced
1 cup strawberries – hulled and sliced
¼ cup extra fine sugar
2 cups ginger ale *
Lemonade ice cubes
Directions: Pour chilled wine into pitcher and add the juice of lemon, lime, and orange. Add the sugar and ginger ale and stir. Add strawberries, star fruit and lemonade ice cubes. Stir together and serve.

I admit it. I hate disposable plastic cups and paper plates. And it’s not an environmental thing, although I admit that bothers me too. I just don’t think disposables are nice. Or all that economical. There’s nothing worse that going to a lovely cocktail party and being handed one of those huge red plastic beer cups with a couple inches of Merlot at the bottom. Suddenly the party doesn’t seem so lovely. And the big gulp cup hardly adds to the bouguet of the wine.

For a cast of thousands, renting is a great option – but how often does that happen? My usual ‘big crowd’ is generally well into the twenties, maybe thirty, but not that much bigger. I gave up disposables. Instead, I shopped the restaurant supply houses like Instawares for simple barware, dishes and the like. I’ve got more than enough for my large gatherings and I really think that after a couple of years of not buying plastic cups and paper plates that my investment has more than paid for itself.
