No plans for the weekend? Go to a show. Go see the big game. Even for so-called sold out events, as the big day approaches more tickets become available and prices start to go down.

Why? Because once the show has started, those tickets are worthless? The same tickets to a hot-hot-hot Broadway show that could cost as much as $300 each through a ticket broker several weeks before the event might be available for the same day or next day at a price well below face value. Ditto for concerts and sporting events.

If you have no plans tonight, tomorrow night or next weekend – surf around and see what’s available in your area. And if you’re about the head off on a last minute get-away… Take a surf and see what’s happening at your destination.

And if you’re wondering how you’d actually get your hand on those tickets if you need to use them tonight or tomorrow? No worries. You’ll most likely be able to pick up your tickets at or near the box office.

North side. South side. It doesn’t matter. If you’re from Chicago, you’ve probably never dared to dream of a Cubs/Sox World Series during your lifetime. After all, if you’re a Chicagoan you can barely dare to dream of your own team making the playoffs – forget about the cross town rivals!

Well this might just be the year. For the first time in over a century, but the Cubs and the White Sox have made it into post-season play.

There’s excitement in the air and die-hard and fair-weather fans are joined together in their love of their team.

And despite the cross town rivalry, Cubs fans and Sox fans are joined together too – by their love of the game and their love of this great city.

I just can’t believe it! Could this really be the year?

Duncan is graduating from 8th grade and big plans are in the works. In and among what I’m sure will be a week long celebration, she and I are going to see Wicked! I’m not sure which one of us is more excited.

Like always, I kind of waited until the last minute to take care of the ticket thing. By the time we decided on the day we wanted to go and I finally got around to shopping there were ZERO seats available at the box office or through Ticketmaster. I must admit I was a bit panicked. No worries, though. I found a great selection of excellent seats at WeHaveSeats.com
. And I got our Wicked tickets
for far less then I was afraid I’d have to pay.
We’ll be rocking with the witches in less than 10 days!!!!!!

Stumped for a way to tell your guy how you feel this Valentine’s Day? Express your love with a gift that honor’s his other great love. The game. Baseball, of course.

Spring training is underway and opening day is just around the corner.

Imagine – enjoying the Superbowl in a luxury suite. With 19 of his nearest and dearest friends. And a catered football feast.

Did you know that there are actually entire luxury suites available for the biggest game of the year? I had no idea. And don’t worry if a the ‘dinner and a game for 20′ package is out of your price range. There are lots of other seats available, too. It’s a Valentine that he’d NEVER forget.

As we like to say here at the savvy shopping blog, there’s no such thing as a sold out show. You just need to know where to shop.
Even the hardest to get seats for the hottest ’sold-out’ shows like Hannah Montana are readily available from reputable ticket brokers. No risk. No worries. You know exactly what seats you’re getting and exactly what you’ll pay. And the prices are often lower than you’d think. Particularly as the event date draws even closer. If you know someone who’s DYING to attend a particular concert, play or sporting event – let your fingers do the surfing. You have nothing to lose.

And plenty of chances to catch a game. Or two. Yankees. Mets. Cubs. White Sox. Red Sox. Where ever you might be and which ever team you might favor, you can just about ALWAYS get a seat.
Never fear, even if your team is in first place (which mine is not) there are seats available through brokers. In fact, the closer it gets to game day and time, the easier it often gets to find good seats for a decent price. Make sense, when you think of it. Once the game has started those tickets are pretty much worthless. Most brokers have a representative at or very near the ball park so you can easily get your tickets without having to make a special trip. Love that!

Play ball!

What a better way to show someone you care than the gift of tickets? You’re not just offering them a gift – you’re offering them an experience. Perhaps an experience that you’ll all share together. From professional sports to theatre and concerts, these days there’s no such thing as a sold out show anymore.

Event tickets are a great gift for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day and tons of other special occassions. Perhaps Mom would enjoy lunch and a matinee at the theatre in honor of her special day? Maybe you’d like to treat Dad to a day at the ballpark. You’d be surprised how easy it is to find tickets for ’sold out’ events. Last minute shopping can pay off when it comes to event tickets. Prices are often lower with only one or two days notice and most major ticket brokers have a pick up location near or at the event location. Always check prices and availability from a couple of sources, just to be sure you’re getting the best seats at the best possible price.

Here’s an entirely new twist selling tickets to sports events, concerts, etc. TicketBroker Direct charges a membership fee of $99 per year (like Sams Club or Costco) and gives members to get access to wholesale prices on over 2,000,000 tickets to over 50,000 events from over 2,000 brokers in the country. Savvy sold out ticket seekers can save 15-50%. Many people do not know that ticket brokers share inventory with each other at a highly reduced rate. When you go to a ticket broker (in person or online), you are usually looking at another broker’s inventory. The ticket broker you are dealing with marks up the tickets anywhere from 15-50%, sometimes with frustrating last minute fees, etc. With TicketBroker Direct, members get access to that network – as if they were ticket brokers themselves! This allows them to save a ton on tickets to any major event and that’s savvy shopping! Thought you’d want to know.
